Ancient ladder from the Dogon tribe of Mali. The ladders are a simple, abstract, intelligent use of materials.

Carved from a naturally forked tree, indoor versions wear to a smooth glossy finish while outdoor versions develop a deeply weathered patina.

Good condition with a beautiful aged patina.

Provenance: Manfred Schäfer collection, ex- gallery owner from Ulm, Germany.
