
Description
Style which evolved directly from the Roman, suggesting a Byzantine origin, about 500-800 AD. Forged iron, 2 3/4" length with tapered flat shaft and ring terminal. Toothed bit folded over forming a narrow lip which would engage a corresponding toothed and slotted bolt end. The broad shank provided a seat for the key aligning it with the lock faceplate to produce a precise interface with the internal lock mechanism.
