Description
Ambreen Butt (born 1969 in Lahore, Pakistan) is a Pakistani-American contemporary visual artist celebrated for her intricate, politically engaged work that reimagines traditional Indian and Persian miniature painting through a contemporary lens. She trained in traditional manuscript painting at the National College of Arts in Lahore and earned an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston after moving to the United States in 1993.Butt?s practice spans drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and installation, using painstaking, labor-intensive techniques to explore complex themes such as gender, identity, power, war, and human rights. Her art often integrates text, ornamentation, and narrative imagery to challenge historical representations and give voice to contemporary stories, particularly those of women and marginalized peoples. She has exhibited widely in major museums and galleries internationally, including solo shows at institutions such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.We do not offer in-house shipping but you can arrange your own by contacting one of these four trusted shippers who can deliver your artworks to you safely and fully insured.
