A Qing dynasty official proclaimed his rank through badges and accessories including his hat. This ingenious folding white brass hat stand, covered in intricately etched scrollwork, recalls the time of the scholar-officials who were connoisseurs of the arts as well as bureaucrats in a vast Empire.
