This piece is mesmerizing because of its precision. The surface is covered in tight, concentric bands of hand-engraved floral and geometric motifs that radiate from the center like a mandala. It features a historic tinned finish that has thinned over the years, creating a beautiful "shimmer" effect where the silver tin and the warm red copper blend together. Sourced from India w/ strong Mughal aesthetic influences, this vessel was traditionally used as a Thali (serving platter) or a presentation tray for gifts and sweets during weddings. The tinning was essential to make the copper food-safe.
