Early 20th C Savona Italy Cobalt and White Faience

Description

Hand painted neoclassical Savona Italy faience jar. Exceptionally beautiful artwork with romantic classical figures and scenery.

All around the urn are painted beautiful scenes with tress, a bird flying, and a paradise of beauty.

The colors are cobalt and white. Faience urn is painted with tin oxide white glaze on earthenware then painted with the cobalt blue scenery. It's an ancient attempt to reproduce porcelain from Asia that is still used today for its unique luster and appeal.

This lovely piece has no visible flaws. There are stains from age, but nothing in we can see other than that. It is dated on the bottom as 1/7/26, so just about 100 years old. It is numbered too.

The bottom has a hole from a lamp conversion.
