Stunning vintage Japanese 4-panel folding screen (byobu) after Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Hokusai. Signed: 潮干狩 Shioshigari; åŒ—æ–Žç† Hokusai hitsu (after Hokusai); Title: 潮干狩乃図 Shioshigari no zu (View of Gathering Shellfish at low tie); 権兵衞寫 Gombei sha (copied). Gouache, watercolor and ink on paper. Silk border. Lacquered black wood frame with engraved copper corners and medallions showing dark patina, and hand signed label "Hokusai", most likely by an art collector who owned this artwork in the past. This label can be easily removed. Paper on back. Four metal hangers are included. Japan, ShÅwa era, circa 1960s. This screen had one owner, who was a collector of Asian Art. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minor age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy.
