Title: Oil painting August summer day Boris Serdyuk Description: NoAAA5308The oil painting on Cardboard titled "August Summer Day" captures the profound stillness and glowing warmth of late summer with a palette and technique that speaks directly to the soul of the landscape. Rendered with bold impasto and rich impressionistic strokes, the piece evokes a serene yet dynamic view of nature as it begins to transition gently from its summer peak toward the golden whispers of autumn. At the heart of the composition lies a wide river, its surface shimmering in hues of turquoise, violet, and deep blue. The reflections dance with both clarity and abstraction, suggesting a light breeze that barely disturbs the water's glassy calm. This body of water becomes the painting's central vein, flowing horizontally and anchoring the interplay between the richly vegetated foreground and the sun-drenched trees on the opposite bank. The distant trees-bathed in intense light-explode with color, capturing the final full bloom of August's bounty. Shades of brilliant yellow, warm ochre, soft peach, and vivid orange mix with cooler tones of mauve, blue, and violet, creating a spectacle of foliage kissed by the afternoon sun. The brushwork is dense and expressive, building form through texture and color rather than strict detail. The trees are not merely depicted; they are sculpted with the palette knife, standing with substance and vitality. In the background, above the glowing tree line, the sky stretches out in broad, layered bands of lavender, dusky blue, and creamy white. Hints of pink and pale gold suggest that the sun, although still high, is beginning its slow descent. The clouds are applied in large, sweeping gestures, mirroring the rolling contours of the land below and drawing the eye gently upward. This sky does not overwhelm-it complements the richness of the earth, adding to the overall sense of tranquil equilibrium. The foreground, in contrast, introduces a denser, more earthy palette. Deep browns, muted purples, and ochres dominate the canvas, representing a thick growth of grasses and wild brush. The artist's strokes here are especially bold and rhythmic, almost abstract in their execution, but perfectly placed to suggest movement, depth, and the fading lushness of a summer soon to end. These dry grasses and tangled plants serve as a visual and thematic counterpoint to the lushness across the water, emphasizing the variety of life at different stages of the season.
