ARTIST: Yuri Shkrob. Yuri's love of painting began in early childhood. From a young age, colors, lines, light, and the movement of nature became more than just a game for him, but a way to understand the world. His artistic vision was formed in Crimea—a place of astonishing light, rich colors, and strong natural characters. This land of great masters inspired Aivazovsky and many other artists, and it became his first school for understanding nature.
Yuri graduated from a children's art school and then continued his studies at the Crimean Art College. His mentors were masters who imparted not only professional knowledge but also the ability to discern the profound poetry in every motif.
After completing his studies, the artist moved to Lviv—an ancient city with an atmosphere where the past and the present breathe in unison. Here, he became deeply interested in the restoration of antique porcelain—a world of graceful forms, silence, and precision. His work as a restorer allowed him to delve deeper into the structure of materials, the nature of paint layers, the textures, and the technology of painting surfaces. This experience subtly enriched his own painting style.
Today, Yuri enjoys painting outdoors, exploring the endless states of nature: the morning chill, the play of wind in the branches, the golden light of the setting sun, the movement of clouds. He works freely and expressively, allowing his brushstrokes to breathe and resonate, capturing the energy of the moment. His works convey movement—the vibration of the air, the oscillation of light, the living impulse of nature, which he strives to capture and convey to the viewer.
For Yuri, painting is a conversation with the world. A conversation through color, the breath of the brush, the rhythm of his brushstrokes. It is a desire to capture a fleeting moment and give it new life on canvas.
