ANCIENT VIKING SILVER WEDDING RING, SIZE 5 1/4

Description

All silver, not plated. Late 9th-early 11th century AD. Good wearable size 5 1/4. Broad slightly rounded face, 4.5mm width. Made with a solid disk center core to distribute the molten metal in the mold. The disk was laboriously removed after the casting cooled. Silver or gold rings appear to be about 1 in 300 in our experience. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
