Second through 4th century AD. The original garment pin was patented two millennia later as the "safety pin". High arched frame with double roped borders flanking a deep central groove. Fastened at the shoulder and serving as jewelry as well as a garment fastener. Bronze, about 2 1/2" length, of elegant form, with faceted back. Crisp with fine patina. With certificate of authenticity.
