Central Persia, mid-20th century. Pure silk on silk. Approx. 113 x 62 cm. Signature. The ivory-colored Mihrab field features an elegantly curved prayer niche with extremely finely crafted floral tendril and blossom ornamentation in green, ochre, blue, and rosé tones, crowned by a calligraphic cartouche. The field is framed by a wide, brick-red main border with classic arabesque and palmette drawing, which underscores the high knotting technical standard of this area rug. Fringes present, good condition with vibrant silk sheen, partially damaged, traces of age and use.
