Light and shadow sculpt the figure plastically, while the clear geometry of the table edge and background surface creates an almost constructive severity. The seemingly narrative situation remains deliberately open and refers to central themes of his work: role images, physical presence and the tension between proximity and distance. The sheet is a characteristic example of Junghans' engagement with figurative representation in the context of the Leipzig School and convinces with its formal clarity and atmospheric density.
