Ingolf Timpner
1963 Mönchengladbach - 2018 Düsseldorf - Untitled (Two Women) - (1997/1998) Gelatin silver print/baryta paper. 1/3. 51 x 50.7 cm (sheet size), 82 x 82 cm (dimensions with frame). Signed and dated on the verso: I. Timpner (19)97. Verso with gallery label on frame. Passe-partout. Fully visible framed under glass. Ingolf Timpner was a German photo artist. He worked with Rolleiflex cameras from the 1950s and 60s. A formal characteristic of his pictures is the development of gelatin silver prints with a natural sponge, which makes the chemical process of photography visible and each hand-print unique. In 1995 he colored his first b/w prints. Since 2007, hand-coloring of individual works has systematically entered his oeuvre. These analog hand-colored photographic works were created as pigment prints after scanning.
