
GEORGE ABBOTT
Collection of folders containing revisions of scripts (mostly unproduced) by the great American theatre producer, director, playwright, screenwriter, film director and producer. Includes three folders concerning the abortive George Abbott and William Saroyan musical The Trombone Player, 1955, with two Saroyan ALS (signed "Bill"); five folders pertaining to the (aborted) 1967 Alexander Cohen production of Hellzapoppin!, including revisions in manuscripts; three folders with early drafts of The Handsome Stranger (apparently unproduced), 1960s; a group of scripts for The Big Shot (based on Broadway); a quantity of manuscript and typed biographical material; and others similar; and miscellaneous materials including some of Abbott's stationery. Condition varies, should be seen.
