Beautiful edition of Guido Panciroli's work containing allegorical depictions of portions of the Empire, court insignia, civil and military authorities, as well as statues, small buildings, books, and camps.
Among the many woodcut illustrations, ranging from formulaic to figurative and at times fanciful, are portraits, maps, architectural and topographic sketches, and insignia and quotidian objects; images of bound codices and scrolls in various forms also appear with striking frequency.
It includes the petition to the emperor on war ''De rebus bellicis'' the corresponding illustrations, depicting chariots, ships and other military equipment.
Towards the end is Andrea Alciato's treatise on civil and military organization, Publius Victor's topographical description of classical Rome, and a conversation between the Emperor Hadrian and the philosopher Epictetus.

Original limp vellum binding with manuscript title to spine.
Binding is firmly attached, first title page is repaired, dampstain to the first about 12 leaves (preface) and last about quarter of pages.
