LICHTENSTEIN ROY: (1923-1997) American pop artist. T.L.S., Roy Lichtenstein, one page, 4to, Southampton, New York, 21st June 1989, to Wolfgang Huste. Lichtenstein thanks his correspondent for their kind letter, a wedding picture, and copies of their proposed business card, of the latter remarking ´Yes, the image on the card is from a painting of mine. While I like the card very much, I cannot give my permission for this image to be used in this way. I am uncomfortable endorsing businesses with my paintings´. In a postscript the artist further adds ´As I don´t collect photos, I am returning your wedding picture. I wish you a long and happy life together´. Stapled to the lower left corner of Lichtenstein´s letter is a copy of Huste´s business card, Antiquariat & Kunsthandlung Huste (Huste Antiquarian Bookshop & Art Gallery), in Dortmund, signed by Huste and bearing an image of Lichtenstein´s Portrait of a Woman (1979). Some very light, extremely minor foxing and a few light creases, otherwise VG
