G. R. Evans (1880-1957) 1st Baron Mountevans. British Admiral and Antarctic explorer, second-in-command on Robert Falcon Scott's ill-fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole in 1910-13 as captain of the expedition ship Terra Nova, and Douglas Mawson (1882-1958) Australian geologist and Antarctic explorer, a key expedition leader during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
