Alexandre Walewski is widely recognized to be the illegitimate son of Napoleon I by his mistress Countess Marie Walewska. An unusual, cleanly written, A.L.S., `Alexandre Walewski´, one page, small 4to, Geneva, 29th January 1821, to Isidor Crispine, in French. A very young, ten and a half years old, Waleswski states in part `Je vous suis très oblige de vous être donné la peine de revêtir ce certificate des formalités propres a`lui, avec le caractère d´authenticité necessaire, mais malheureusement vous n´y avait(sic) pas réussit…´ (Translation: “I am very obliged to you for having taken the trouble to fill this certificate with the formalities specific to it, and with the necessary character of authenticity, but unfortunately you were unable to do so…”) With address leaf bearing several ink stamps.
