
GODERICH VISCOUNT: (1782-1859) British Prime Minister August 1827 - January 1828. A scarce L.S., Goderich, one page, folio, Downing Street, 23rd June 1827, to the administrator of the Government of Tobago. The circular letter, marked Duplicate, and with a printed body of text, states, in full, ´I have the honor to transmit to you the enclosed List of Returns (no longer present) which have been called for by the House of Commons, and I have to desire that you will forward to me, at your earliest convenience, the information required on the subjects therein enumerated, as far as relates to the Colony under your Government´. Sir Frederick Philipse Robinson (1763-1852) British General who served in the American War of Independence and the Napoleonic Wars, also commanding a brigade under the Duke of Wellington in Spain (1813-14). Robinson served as Governor of Tobago from 1816-28.
