A gorgeous Meiji Period hand-painted four -panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting "Tale of Genji". This screen style is characteristic of the Kano School.
Gouache and ink on gold leaf over paper. Goldwork (gold threads) silk border. Large bronze corners and medallions, engraved with flowers and leaves, showing age patina, on lacquered wood frame. Silk-like paper on back. Detailed artwork and high-end quality of materials.
