Description
A unified set of ten original late-19th-century herbarium botanicals, each specimen meticulously labeled in quill and ink with both common and scientific plant names.
These authentic Victorian-era teaching specimens were originally bound in a folio from the American Normal School"”a 19th-century teacher's college"”used for instruction in early botanical sciences.
Each has been archivally mounted and newly framed using solid oak new moulding from Larson-Juhl with a faux-bamboo profile"”a design that quietly references early naturalist interiors and pairs easily with both traditional and organic modern decor. All materials are museum-grade: acid-free backings, UV-protective non-glare plexiglass, archival adhesives to preserve their integrity for decades to come.
The set reads as one: consistent paper tone, balanced compositions, and uniform scale. Each folio sheet is approx. 10 â…ž" H × 9" W
Condition:
Alterations: Original Design Modified
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: One specimen shows a small upper-left corner tear (.25" x .78"), and the remainder have approx. .125 hole where the folio was bound, barely visible when displayed. Some expected adhesive loss from the original glue & tapes"”a hallmark of genuine 19th-century work and, to most eyes, part of their appeal.
