Frank Lloyd Wright Midway Gardens Chess Set

Description

Item/Description: Architectural chess set produced under license from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, featuring 32 cold-cast resin pieces modeled after the "Sprite" sculptures and related geometric forms designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in collaboration with Alfonso Iannelli for Midway Gardens, Chicago, 1914. Each piece, including the approximately 5-inch King and Queen, is hand-painted and finished to simulate cast stone or concrete. The set reflects Wright?s Prairie School and early modernist design vocabulary through stylized vertical and geometric forms. Housed in a fitted presentation box with individual compartments for storage.
