Item/Description: Handwritten cyphering book / school exercise book for teaching arithmetic. These books were used by students to practice mathematical problems, such as the "Single Rule of Three" and "Double Rule of Three" seen in the text. Personal paper journal dating from the late 18th or early 19th century.
