Description
Les Voyages d'Asterix [The Adventures of Asterix]. A large colour promotional pictorial map charting the travels of Asterix, Obelix, and their companions across the ancient world, as depicted throughout the celebrated comic series co-created by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. Centred on Gaul, the map radiates outward to encompass all the locations visited in the adventures, including Britain, Hispania, Helvetia, Germania, Italia, Greece, Egypt, the Near East, Atlantis, and the Americas, with animated routes tracing the journeys undertaken in each story. An illustrated frieze along the lower margin presents characters from every Asterix story, while the locations where Asterix encounters these figures are marked directly on the map, linking narrative episodes to geography. In this way, the map functions both as a visual index to the series and as a playful reconstruction of the Roman world, enlivened with humorous vignettes characterising each location. Issued by Les Éditions Albert Uderzo & René Goscinny in 2001, this officially sanctioned map forms part of the Astérix canon and is both decorative and richly referential. Surprisingly scarce given its age. by Uderzo, Albert. Published 2001. Cartoon literary promotional map printed in colour on a plastic sheet. Size 67 x 97 cm | 26.0 x 38.0 inches. Condition: Fair: The map is printed on a plastic sheet which has cracked with small areas of loss at top and bottom and tape repairs verso. Minor scratches.
