This vase is an antique, hand-painted, Royal Nippon Nishiki porcelain vase with gilded accents and a ruffled lip. It was likely produced from the year 1900 through 1910.
Nippon porcelain refers to Japanese made ceramics exported to the United States between 1891 through 1921, marked with "Nippon" to comply with the McKinley Tariff Act. "Royal Nippon" is a specific mark used by several Japanese manufacturers, often indicating a higher quality or a particular line of decorative porcelain. These pieces were frequently handpainted with elaborate floral designs, showcasing the artistry of Japanese porcelain painters.
Such a gorgeous vase, and yet it was very difficult to photograph! It has a combination of a matte background, but it also has glossy highlights throughout the painting, that give it a dimensional look"”unfortunately, the highlights photograph as white"”making it look as though it's paint is missing! This work of art is in excellent condition"”and it has ALL of its paint! ;)
