A partial-printed stock certificate for 100 shares of the Irving Trust Company, made out to IBM head Thomas J. Watson Sr. 1p, no. 32334, measuring 7" x 10.75", New York, NY, February 25, 1931. Signed on the verso as "Thos. J. Watson", stamped above with the date of December 30, 1931 and countersigned by two witnesses. Expected punch cancellations present along top and bottom, not affecting signature. General toning throughout, with minor pin holes present above vignette engraving. Else, very good.
Thomas J. Watson (1874-1956) was an American businessman who served as the chairman and CEO of IBM from 1914 until his death in the mid-1950s. In this role, he oversaw the company's growth as an international force, turning it into a highly effective selling organization based largely on punched card tabulating machines. During World War II, Watson authorized providing Nazi Germany with data processing solutions, and notably profited from both the German and American war effort.
