CARVED BLACK FOREST COMPOTE WITH MONKEY

Description

Continental, late 19th century. Unusual carved Black Forest walnut bowl or compote, having an etched colorless glass bowl, supported by a tree with monkey, apparently unmarked.

Provenance: Estate of Scott Hudgens and Jacqueline Casey Hudgens, Duluth, GA.

Approximate dimensions: h. 13", w. 9.75", d. 7".

Condition

Previous repairs with visible glue; scattered dryness cracks; back of the tree with areas rubbed; no apparent chips or cracks to the glass bowl.
