Description
(1889 – 1942) Nazi Gauleiter of Gau Weser-Ems and Reichsstatthalter of both Oldenburg and Bremen. Rover supposedly suffered a stroke in May 1942 and died in Berlin soon afterwards, though many speculate his increasingly erratic behavior, likely caused by progressive dementia brought on by late stage syphilis, led to his murder on Bormann's orders. Rare S.P., 3.75 x 5.75 in. b/w, a portrait in uniform as gauleiter, signed at lower-right. Fine.
