Description
Second model Luftwaffe dagger, 10 in. blade, 15 in. overall, fitted with an orange celluloid-covered wood grip with a wire wrap that remains in place and tight. The grip itself shows slight play between the pommel and crossguard, with one minute crack at the pommel end. The oval pommel depicts a swastika surrounded by oak leaves, and shows a few minute dings to the bottom. The cross guard, depicting a left-facing national eagle in flight with oak leaves on a plain pebbled field, shows some wear and softening to the details, but shows no appreciable damage. The pebbled reverse of the crossguard shows one faint spot of oxidation. The nickel-finish blade bears the maker's mark of Stocker & Co. of Solingen, with expected draw marks and a few areas of surface oxidation. The scabbard is pebbled with an oak leaf pattern at the tip and on the hanger bands. It is straight and has no scratches, dings or dents, with minor softening to the details of the top band. The grip is wrapped with a silver wire portapee, showing some fraying along the cord. In very good condition overall.
