A Third Reich-era Polizei general officer’s visor cap, constructed of greenish-gray ‘feldgrau’ wool with a brown wool band and a black faux-leather bill. The crown and the edges of the band are trimmed with metallic gold bullion piping. A metal national tricolor cockade is applied to the cap’s peak, with a gilt-finished Polizei eagle and wreath badge at the front of the band. The latter is affixed through the interior lining with split pins. No chin straps or attachment buttons are present, with no indication that any were ever fitted. The interior is lined with olive-green cotton, with a diamond-shaped celluloid sweat shield at the center of the crown. The sweat band is of gray faux leather. No maker’s marks are present. The visor shows some wear or discoloration, with some darkening to the metal insignia, while the interior lining shows sweat stains, with expected wear and minor soiling to the sweat and. In very good condition overall.
