DAGGER WITH DOUBLE-HEADED LION POMMEL

Description

An attractive, likely nineteenth-century dagger, 12 in. blade, 16.5 in. overall, with a double-edged steel blade and single-piece cast brass crossguard, pommel and grip wrapped with black leather and braided wire. The pommel is in the form of a double-headed lion, while heraldic shields appear below the crossguard on both sides. No maker’s mark or other identifiers are present. The blade shows dark oxidation and pitting overall, otherwise in very good condition.
