Description

(1765 - 1818) French Marshall, private secretary to Napoleon during the Consulate, Minister of War (1807-14) during Napoleon's campaigns. Uncommon A.L.S. as 'Le M'al D. de Feltre', 1p. 4to., Paris, Aug. 27, 1817 to 'Baron Dumoulins Marechal des Camps[?]'. Not translated but apparently a rather sentimental, perhaps angry letter commenting upon his leaving his position as Minister of War for the second time, this time while serving Louis XVIII. He would be replaced by Gouvion Saint-Cyr. Fine condition.
