[Civil War] Eight Carte de Visites and Stereoviews of Confederate Landmarks

8 CDVs and stereoviews of Confederate landmarks and related subjects. Conditions overall good unless otherwise described. Highlighted by the following:

2 CDVs of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's grave. First with verso imprint of Stonewall Art Gallery, Boude & Miley, Lexington, VA. Second with verso imprint of Michael Miley, Lexington, VA. Michael Miley (1841-1918) saw service for the Confederacy in the Stonewall Brigade during the "Lost Cause," and followed his general, Robert E. Lee, to Lexington in 1866. He learned photography as a prisoner of war after being captured at Chancellorsville, no doubt also influenced the itinerant photographers who followed the armies taking images of the fresh recruits and documenting the destruction of battles. He apparently was a "natural" and captured some of the most iconic post-war images of the General, such as Lee on Traveller and his portraits as President of the University. -- 2 stereoviews of Jackson's grave in Lexington, VA, each with applied paper label on verso credited to Selden & Co. or Selden & Ennis. Each with period manuscript notation on verso. -- Copy print on cardstock mount showing Stonewall Jackson's horse Little Sorrel with a caretaker, likely printed ca late 19th-early 20th century. With manuscript notation on verso identifying the horse as well as the circumstances of Jackson's death. -- 2 CDVs, the first showing "Gen. Lee's Headquarters, September 17th, 1862," the second showing "Gen. McClellan's Headquarters, Antietam, Sept. 17th, 1862." Photographer unknown (significant fading, soiling to prints). -- Hand-colored CDV showing flags of the Confederacy, verso imprint of Selden & Ennis, Richmond, VA (soiling to print and mount).
