Oil on canvas by Ferdinand Danton (Am. 1877-1939) a portrait of two pointer hunting dogs. Signed Danton. 20" x 30". No Frame, some wear to canvas. Danton is more famous as an art forger than as a Trompe, sporting dog, and landscape painter. Ferdinand Danton died in poverty. He spent two years in prison and used at least four names. He is a known forger of Peale paintings.
