Chinese Silver-Mounted Coconut Shell Goblet with Silver-Lined Interior

Description

Chinese coconut shell goblet with a silver-lined interior and silver-mounted rim, raised on a non-silver metal stem and foot. The exterior of the coconut shell is carved and decorated with engraved foliate motifs, retaining its natural texture and patina. The silver lining was applied to allow the vessel to function as a drinking cup, protecting the porous shell material. Height: 3.15 inches.
