Gold-plated, floral pattern, gourd-shaped, inverted-flow pot. Height 25cm, diameter 14.5cm, weight 993g. Tang Dynasty (or Liao-Jin period) court drinking ware, influenced by Persian gold and silver craftsmanship. Pure gold, with obvious usage marks and patina on the surface. It is made using hammering, engraving, and gold plating techniques. The shape is that of a gourd. The body is engraved with flowers and auspicious beasts patterns, the spout is a dragon head, and the handle is a scroll pattern. The inverted-flow design is ingenious and the craftsmanship is exquisite. Tang Dynasty or Liao-Jin period. Goldware was exclusively used by the royal family in ancient times. This pot has a unique shape and is an important physical evidence for studying the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and the gold and silver craftsmanship during the Tang Dynasty.
