Description
Solid brass ship’s bell from H.M.S. Tamar, engraved “H.M.S. Tamar.” HMS Tamar was a 28-gun wooden screw frigate of the British Royal Navy, launched in 1863. She served extensively on overseas stations, including in Asian and Pacific waters, undertaking patrol, transport, and imperial support duties during the height of the Victorian era. Later in her career she became a receiving ship at Hong Kong, where she remained in service into the 20th century. Ship’s bells were central to life at sea, marking time, regulating watches, and signalling orders, and they remain among the most evocative survivals from historic naval vessels. Authentic 19th-century Royal Navy bells are exceptionally scarce, making this a significant and tangible relic of Victorian naval history. 175 lbs. 17"H x 18"Diameter
