Description
Florence Louisa Barclay (1862 - 1921) was an English romance novelist & writer of short stories born in Ssurrey, England. She wrote ten novels in all, and one of them The Mistress of Shenstone was made into a silent film in 1921.
Legend has it that Florence finished writing The Following of the Star at the graveside of Elizabeth Barrett Browning. She also wrote The Rosary (1909), a love story extolling the benefits of married bliss, which was a theme she used in her later writings with great success.
This book is in fantastic condition given that it is over 100 years old with only minor imperfections. The book is also nice looking with a very interesting, flowery type face printed in gilt on the cover and spine, and decorative designs embossed into the cover and spine. A very attractive addition to any collection!
