STS-51-J partial crew autographed mission cover commemorating the 21st Space Shuttle launch and the maiden flight of Atlantis (OV-104). The cachet at left details Mission 51-J with a purple shuttle illustration and text noting the classified Department of Defense payload. The cover bears a Kennedy Space Center, Florida postmark dated October 3, 1985, and is franked with dual 22¢ Abigail Adams stamps. The cover is autographed in black ink by Ronald Grabe, Robert Stewart, Karol Bobko, and David Hilmers. Addressed to West Germany, adding period postal interest.

Ronald E. Grabe is a former NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy aviator who flew three Space Shuttle missions between 1985 and 1991. He served as pilot on STS-51-G and commander of STS-30, a mission that successfully deployed the Magellan spacecraft to Venus.
Robert L. Stewart is a retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Army aviator who flew four Space Shuttle missions, including STS-41-B and STS-51-J. He later served as Chief of the Astronaut Office, playing a key leadership role in Shuttle-era crew assignments and operations.
Karol J. “Bo” Bobko was a NASA astronaut and U.S. Air Force officer who flew three Space Shuttle missions and commanded two of them, including STS-51-J and STS-41-H. He was among the most experienced Shuttle commanders of the early program.
David C. Hilmers is a former NASA astronaut and physician who flew five Space Shuttle missions between 1985 and 1993. Trained as a medical doctor and U.S. Air Force pilot, he contributed to both mission operations and space medicine during the Shuttle program.
