Sherwood Spring autographed flown commemorative cover carried aboard NASA aircraft 914 (T-38) on March 1, 1982, from Houston, TX to Ontario, CA, in support of Space Shuttle mission STS-3. The cover includes handwritten flight details, noting an altitude of 39,000 feet at Mach 0.94. Also referenced is “CP Dr. W. Thornton,” a nod to fellow astronaut and payload specialist Dr. William Thornton.

Colonel Sherwood “Woody” Spring (b. 1944) is a retired U.S. Army officer and NASA astronaut who flew on STS-61-B aboard Atlantis in 1985, logging over 165 hours in space and performing two spacewalks. A veteran test pilot and engineer, Spring also contributed significantly to early Shuttle operations and payload development.
