Ben Hogan (1912–1997) was one of the greatest professional golfers in history and a central figure in the golden era of the sport. A nine-time major championship winner, Hogan captured the Masters twice, the U.S. Open four times, the PGA Championship twice, and the British Open once. Renowned for his precision ball-striking and relentless work ethic, Hogan overcame a near-fatal automobile accident in 1949 to return to competitive golf and win multiple major championships afterward. His influence on golf instruction and swing mechanics remains profound, particularly through his classic instructional work “Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf.”
