Muhammad Ali, signing as “C. Clay,” autographed 9.75 x 13.75” concert program for KYA’s “Surf Party” held at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on September 28, 1963. Clay’s early signature appears in blue ink at the lower left corner of the cover, dating from the period when he was still competing under his birth name shortly before becoming world heavyweight champion.
The program is additionally signed by numerous performers appearing at the event, creating a remarkable mid-1960s music and cultural artifact. Signatures present include members of The Beach Boys (including Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, and David Marks), Jan & Dean, Dionne Warwick, Donna Loren, and other artists associated with the show.
