Carl Perkins (1932–1998) was a pioneering American singer-songwriter and guitarist best known for his 1956 hit “Blue Suede Shoes,” one of the defining songs of early rock and roll. A key figure in the Sun Records roster alongside Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis, Perkins helped shape the rockabilly sound that bridged country and rhythm & blues. His influence extended to later generations of musicians, including The Beatles, who recorded several of his songs.
