Near fine condition.
Sir John Stuart (1801–1877) was a British civil servant and public administrator whose career placed him within the upper ranks of Victorian governmental life. Though less publicly prominent than cabinet ministers or judges, figures such as Stuart played a vital role in the daily functioning of Britain’s administrative state. Autograph letters from senior civil servants are valued for their insight into the mechanics of 19th-century governance.
