John Bright (1811–1889) was a prominent British Radical and Liberal statesman, celebrated for his powerful oratory and leadership in the Anti–Corn Law League. A close ally of Richard Cobden, Bright was a tireless advocate for free trade, parliamentary reform, and expanded suffrage, and later served as President of the Board of Trade and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. His speeches and political philosophy left a lasting imprint on 19th-century British democracy, making signed material from Bright both historically significant and highly desirable to collectors of political and reform-era ephemera.
