The image shows the presidential portrait painted by Rockwell and published in magazine form, with Nixon signing the lower left portion in ink. The piece measures approximately 8.75 x 10.75” as trimmed from the original publication.

Richard Milhous Nixon (1913–1994) served as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 to 1974. Prior to the presidency, Nixon served as a U.S. Representative and Senator from California and later as Vice President under Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961. His presidency saw significant diplomatic achievements including the opening of relations with the People’s Republic of China and détente with the Soviet Union, as well as the signing of major environmental legislation. Nixon resigned from office in 1974 in the wake of the Watergate scandal, becoming the first U.S. president to do so.
