Gerald R. Ford and Betty Ford trio of First Day of Issue covers, including two covers autographed by President Ford in blue ink and one cover signed by First Lady Betty Ford. The Ford-signed examples include a 1981 San Francisco First Day cover and a 1982 Mount Vernon George Washington commemorative issue. The Betty Ford–signed cover honors “The Women of America” issue, postmarked Washington, D.C., and autographed in blue ink across the lower portion.

Gerald R. Ford (1913–2006) served as the 38th President of the United States from 1974 to 1977, assuming office following the resignation of Richard Nixon. Previously the longtime House Minority Leader and later Vice President, Ford is remembered for his efforts to restore stability and public trust in government during the post-Watergate era. Betty Ford (1918–2011), as First Lady, became a prominent advocate for women’s rights and breast cancer awareness. After leaving the White House, she founded the Betty Ford Center, becoming a national leader in addiction recovery advocacy.
