Dwight D. Eisenhower autographed typed letter on “Office of Dwight D. Eisenhower” letterhead, dated “En Route Chicago, July 3, 1952.” Addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Phipps of Denver, Colorado, the letter expresses Eisenhower’s regret at not having had the opportunity to personally thank them for their hospitality and thoughtful reception, and conveys warm greetings and appreciation to members of the Phipps family. Signed at the conclusion in blue ink, “Dwight D. Eisenhower.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890–1969) served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. Prior to his presidency, he was Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War II, overseeing the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Elected president in 1952, Eisenhower’s administration was marked by the end of the Korean War, the creation of the Interstate Highway System, and efforts to balance Cold War tensions while maintaining domestic prosperity.
