Charles E. Whittaker autographed 7.25 x 10” black and white portrait photograph depicting the Associate Justice in judicial robes. Whittaker has signed neatly along the lower margin in blue ink, “Charles E. Whittaker.” The image bears the photographer’s credit at the lower right corner.

Near fine condition with trimmed right and left edges and a few minor surface dings.

Charles Evans Whittaker (1901–1973) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1957 to 1962. Appointed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, Whittaker previously served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. His tenure on the Supreme Court occurred during a period of major constitutional developments, particularly in the areas of civil rights and reapportionment, before he resigned due to health concerns.
